WORK LOCATION: Onsite in Cupertino, California for initial training, then work can be performed remotely

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time for first few months of the project, then part-time

LANGUAGES NEEDED: Hindi

JOB STATUS: Employment, Temporary, Hourly

JOB DURATION: Several months

START DATE: July 2018 (as soon as candidate is qualified)

 

 

ROLE SUMMARY:

Lionbridge Global Services for Machine Intelligence is looking for people with native speaker fluency in Hindi to join our multi-cultural team working on cutting-edge Machine Intelligence projects!! The Hindi Linguist will help our customer in developing and expanding of their Hindi and Hinglish lexicons.

 

The project will start as soon as an expert is qualified. We would ideally want to have an initial training at our client’s facility in Cupertino, CA for 2 - 3 of weeks but the rest of the work can be done remotely. There is some flexibility if traveling is an issue as the training can also be done remotely. Overall, it will be a long-term project, the first several months will require a full-time commitment, and then will be part-time.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparing and auditing data test sets.

Reviewing language rules, including inflection rules and patterns.

Reviewing and correcting Devanagari to Latin transliterations.

Reviewing and correcting lexicon content, applying proper labels for usage.

Proposing relevant dictionary content and meta-content.

Writing guidelines and instructions for vendors or junior linguists.       

Identifying tools and process enhancements.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Degree in Linguistics or language-related field.

Native speaker fluency in Hindi. Professional proficiency in English.

Excellent knowledge of structural aspects of the Hindi (syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics).

Up-to-date exposure to popular native culture and the ability to use that knowledge to inform data analysis.

Previous experience working with language data (e.g. research, analysis, translation, review).
