Data Science Intern- Fall

Position: As an intern with GlobalWonks, you’ll have the opportunity to work with highly experienced professionals from across the consulting, international business, government affairs, and technology industries. As an early stage startup, GlobalWonks offers you a rare opportunity to be a part of a new company with the chance to take on challenging projects and responsibilities. Our data science intern will have a robust role in shaping our data strategy. 

Responsibilities: As an intern, you will primarily support and report to our Director of Analytics, but will work with various lines of business and team members.
·     Help Director develop and implement GlobalWonks’ Data and Analytics Strategy
·     Write, test, and implement code in support of data gathering and analysis
·     Apply data science techniques in new and creative ways to provide data-driven recommendations
·     Work closely with technology team to support the GlobalWonks platform

Skills: Working in a startup gives you the opportunity to take on responsibilities you wouldn’t have in other positions. GlobalWonks is searching for a motivated, independent, curious, and creative candidate with a background in business analysis, data engineering and data science, and an interest in international affairs to support the Director of Analytics.

Mandatory Qualifications:
·      Masters or PhD student in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or equivalent- rising Seniors or recent graduates may be considered with strong
·      programming and internship experience
·      Experience designing, developing, and implementing machine learning (supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised) algorithms
·      Extensive understanding of data pipelines, specifically with AWS solutions and products
·      Advanced understanding of R, Python, and SQL languages

Desired Qualifications:
·      2+ years of experience with applying data analytic techniques, including data mining, machine learning, statistical analysis, and natural language processing
·      Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
·      Clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal communication
