VetTech - Computing
Fermilab is America’s premier laboratory for particle physics and accelerator research, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. We conduct this research on a 6,800-acre prairie, 35 miles outside Chicago, a treasure that has been designated a National Environmental Research Park.
A VetTech Computing Intern performs routine tasks to assist in aspects of configuration, installation, support or maintenance of computing hardware, software, systems, networks, and applications. Tasks are accomplished under direct supervision of a Fermilab employee and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The intern may gain exposure to application services, computer security, central web hosting, etc.; assist in installing, configuring, networking, maintaining and upgrading operating systems on workstations and servers, including database and web servers, in support of scientific and business processing requirements. Areas supported may include: database administration and analysis, network analysis and architecture, web development and operations, functional analysis, and systems administration.
