Minimum Starting Salary - $46,087 -- Negotiable Based on Experience
 
The Water Quality Assurance (WQA) Coordinator manages all aspects of the agency’s water quality monitoring quality assurance program. The WQA coordinator develops and revises standard operating procedures, quality assurance project plans and an overall quality management plan for the program and for specific projects within the program. The WQA coordinator analyzes water quality data collected by non-agency groups that are used in the agency’s Integrated 305(b)/303(d) Water Quality Report to EPA, TMDL reports and other agency business. The coordinator tracks and inventories the activities of citizen monitoring groups and other non-agency groups. The WQA coordinator works closely with the Volunteer Monitoring Coordinator (P0129) to ensure that the agency is supporting high-quality water quality monitoring and is maximizing the use of non-agency data for agency business.  
 
Qualifications:  Key competencies include comprehensive knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of:
 
·        Knowledge of chemical, physical and biological parameters used to evaluate water quality and ecological integrity
·        Understanding of quality control and quality assurance measures as they apply to environmental data
·        Experience with professional water quality monitoring programs
·        Knowledge and experience with volunteer water quality programs
·        Experience with environmental statistics, environmental data management, and database management
·        Experience with laboratory analysis of environmental samples
·        Strong technical writing, oral communication and training skills
·        Knowledge of state procurement policies and procedures
·        Graduation from college or university with major course work in environmental policy, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field is preferred. A combination of education, training, or experience which would indicate the above knowledge and skills may be substituted for a degree.
