Trading Intern

Sol Systems is seeking an Intern for our Trading team. The Trading intern will have the opportunity to takeaway a greater understanding of the environmental commodities markets and the inherent risks of operating and trading within these markets including but not limited to price risk, position management risk, variable generation risk, inventory risk, and regulatory/policy risk.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive efforts to enhance position and P&L reporting capabilities for the Trading organization, including enhancing the accuracy and clarity of position reporting for Sol’s environmental commodity portfolio, building out new reports that help drive daily trade execution decisions, and assisting in day-over-day P&L validation.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of pricing and valuation models for new and existing markets including pricing of structured transactions that mitigates forward price risk to Sol.
  • Assist in the compilation of requisite materials and development of internal investment committee memos for formal Request for Proposals (“RFPs”) and/or other non-standard transactions that the Trading organization enters.
  • Other assigned projects.

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Data visualization skills with Tableau and/or Power BI
  • Bachelor’s Degree or progress toward degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Energy Management, or related field.
  • High proficiency in Excel and proficiency in one or more of the primary coding languages (i.e., Python, SQL, R, Matlab, etc.) would be highly valued.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong interest in renewable energy

Location & Hours: This is a remote internship with a required 30-40 hours per week.
