Federal Government Affairs, Intern (Fall 2021)

The Fall Internship Program
During the Cheniere Energy, Inc. (Cheniere) Internship program, you will have hands-on experience taking principles in your discipline from the classroom to the real world. We offer a variety of projects that impact the overall success of the company, develop your skillset, and prepare you for success in a professional setting. Our paid Internship programs are typically from the:
  • Start date: First/Second week of September
  • End date: First/second week of December
We work with students around their school schedule before finalizing dates.

Federal Government Affairs Responsibilities
Assist the Washington, DC office with federal government relations activities for the company. General activities include: monitoring and tracking of legislation impacting the company at federal, state and local levels; research; assist with activities related to day-to-day management of Political Action Committee (PAC); assist with compilation and distribution of legislative updates; aid in political event planning. Potential job duties:
  • Monitor and track legislation on the federal and international level that is relevant to Cheniere and the LNG industry.
  • Research and analyze impact of public policy (legislative and regulatory issues).
  • Assist with Cheniere’s federal Political Action Committee (PAC) participation.
  • Assist with updates to our in-house tracking and reporting systems.
  • Help prepare briefs and, as necessary or on request, in-depth reports on specific issues.
  • Aid in development, distribution of weekly internal policy and political updates.
  • Monitor congressional committees, think tanks, trade associations, etc. for upcoming hearingsand briefings.
  • Compile and distribute data relative to public policy issues affecting the company.
  • Help in planning political events hosted by the company.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a four-year accredited college/ university or in a graduateprogram with a course of study, relevant to the department/function of interest.
  • Major: Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Government, Political Science, Public Relations or Communications.
  • Preference given to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Interns must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have strong oral and written communications skills, be able to work effectively and build relationships with others.
  • Must have good organization and planning skills, demonstrate effective project coordination,facilitation, and implementation based on past work or school experiences.
  • Must possess deductive reasoning skills, be able to analyze and synthesize information for problem solving.
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email software, internet searching, and other programs.
