Spring Meadow Nursery is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting team.  Be a part of the team that introduced ‘Limelight’ hydrangea and Wine & Roses weigela to North America!
 
The Controller, a member of the leadership team, is responsible for overseeing the accounting for the daily operations for the company. This includes monitoring and reporting on all accounting transactions for monthly internal financial statements, as well as periodic regulatory reporting. The Controller reports directly to the General Manager. 
 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage all accounting operational functions including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Cost Accounting,
  • Manage Accounting Department Staff and setting of internal controls
  • Publish monthly financial statements accurately and timely
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations
  • Complete regular financial projections and budgets
  • Complete regular federal and state tax projections
  • Manage weekly cash flow along with future cash flow projections
  • Manage filing of all monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns and reports
  • Serve as lead accounting authorization of all payment types
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Oversee management of multiple inter-company entities
  • Ensure proper execution and maintenance of all customer and breeder licensing agreements
  • Manage patent & trademark and breeders’ rights process and files including foreign agents
  • Manage fixed assets process
  • Responsible for all domestic and international tax returns
  • Maintain lease documents
  • Management of all banking, loan, and escrow accounts
  • Support and develop the Accounting Department Staff
  • Other duties assigned by the GM
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, including work as Controller.
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements, general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process.
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
  • Thorough communication, technological, and analytical skills.

Performance Requirements:
  1. Must maintain a level of performance equivalent to company standards, that being a “Meets Expectations” in all areas of your performance evaluations (Self and Management reviews).
