The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring an IT software engineer III for our State Office. This position is a senior developer responsible for maintaining, developing, and supporting web-based applications and interacting with program and database staff on work flows. 

Example of Duties:

  • Design, develop, implement, and support web-based applications [C#/ASP.NET].
  • Use and transfer data via applications to databases {MS SQL Server], design data transfer techniques, provide client business analysis, design web-based solutions {C#/ASP.NET}, construct workflow analysis, and deliver solutions that require technical expertise in developing and supporting complex web-based applications.
  • Work and coordinate with other developers, database analysts, and program staff on web application development.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Advise information systems discipline lead on web-development related issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

Considerable knowledge of data architecture, software architecture, common software design patterns, development and testing practices; programming languages and software development tool suites.
 
Experience creating, interpreting and documenting user requirements; analyzing development solutions to show costs and benefits; coding, testing and deploying production systems; establishing and defining architecture and development standards.

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time
  • Some periods of heavy reading and typing required

DEQ is a state department created by the Idaho Environmental Protection and Health Act to ensure clean air, water, and land in the state and protect Idaho citizens from the adverse health impacts of pollution.
 
As a regulatory agency, DEQ enforces various state environmental regulations and administers a number of federal environmental protection laws including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
