At Colorado Springs Utilities, the work of Procurement Services offers a unique opportunity for college students to gain hands on experience in procurement and supply chain management. This internship provides exposure to strategic sourcing, procurement practices, and analytics within a dynamic utility environment. Additionally, you will gain insights into current challenges in the supply chain, such as disruptions from natural disasters, pandemics, and geopolitical tensions. Understand the importance of supply chain resilience, sustainability efforts, and technological integration.
*This is a summer only internship from May 27th through August 8th or 15th depending on school schedule.
A Procurement Internship offers the following learning opportunity:
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement - Gain an overview of strategic sourcing, procurement, and buying practices at Colorado Springs Utilities
Market Research - Assist in market research related to pricing negotiations to support cost savings goals.
Public Procurement Best Practices - Learn the best practice of public procurement including policy, process and legal aspects related to buying, contracting, solicitations and contract management
Project & Change Management - Develop skills in the development and implementation of business initiatives that support continuous improvement and efficiencies
Cross-Functional Collaboration - Play a vital role in leading existing projects and collaborating with teams across the company
Conference Planning - Assist in the planning and communication of Colorado Springs Utilities annual “Supplier Day." Collaborate across the company and with suppliers to help plan our half day supplier
In this position the intern will learn about the critical role of procurement and the many ways we support business needs. The intern will help develop and deliver various initiatives previously identified as well as identify and propose solutions to areas observed during the internship. The intern will work closely with the Procurement team on multiple projects and initiatives in a support or lead role while learning valuable insights into the Procurement functions at a public utility.
Who You Are...a student with a passion for supply chain, materials management, project management and logistics and seeking a degree in business with a potential concentration in business management, supply chain management, management, or project management.
*This is an on-site, non-remote/non-telecommuting position
*Hourly rate is dependent on year completed of academic degree, e.g., second year complete, third year complete, etc.
*Candidates MUST be enrolled in a degree seeking program (Associates/Bachelors/Masters) and be able to provide documentation if requested. Enrollment in a certification program does not qualify.
